Day four

On Day 4, we went to a place called Los Veranos and road their zip lines through the jungle. I was really nervous about this, because I'm not big on heights. You are literally hanging, securely, on a line many feet above the ground. Sometimes over the river. However, it turned out to be a lot of fun. Our tour guides were funny and the scenery was beautiful. Dave getting unhooked so he can move on to the next line.
I'm heading out over the canyon.
I'm coming in.
This house was an example of many we saw. No doors orglass in the windows. Many of the buildings looked abandoned, but they weren't. People live there, but they don't really need glass in the windows and doors. They need the circulation without the glass because it gets so hot there. They do have a rainy season, though, in the summer. I'm sure they wish for glass in their windows then.
There are flowers growing in the trees everywhere there. We saw many orchids attached to the trees, and thought of Grandma and Grandpa Christiansen. The orchids were not in bloom, though, because it was the end of the dry season. I'm sure about October it would be beautiful.
We played with some monkeys they had there in cages after the tour.

That evening we had a very romantic dinner. Many of their resturants and other buildings, including our hotel, were open. Our room was closed, but when you go out in the hall, there are no windows. The air just blows through. This resturant was out in the open, and up on the hill, so you had a great view of the city and the sunset. This shows the fountain behind Dave.
The sunset.
Me, with the city below. There are lots of white buildings there, and the most common color to see people wearing is white. Everyone wears white.
Dave had a seafood platter. I had chicken. Seafood's not really my thing.

After dinner, we went back to our hotel and sat out by the pool to watch some fireworks over the water. Every night a boat out in the bay let off a few fireworks. It was a very romantic evening.

Rose, I think you and Dave are ready for "The Amazing Race" now!

We mentioned the Amazing Race many times while we were there. Riding in the taxis and trying to find certain places. It could be fun.
