Kaitlin participated in a summer orchestra program this summer. Their theme was Pirates of the Caribbean. They performed at the amphitheatre in Layton Park. Because the theme was Pirates of the Caribbean, there was a costume contest for the audience. Lucky for us, or I should say, Heather, Kaitlin was a pirate for Halloween a few years ago. So, we just happened to have a full pirate costume for a girl. Heather wore it and brought her toy parrot. She won first place. This was also the same day she got stung by a wasp, so her face was all swollen. Heather won a gift certificate to a local music store and a local restaurant.

When they played "Spirit of the American West", they wore cowboy hats.
When they played "Pirates of the Carribbean", they wore bandanas on their heads.
This is the pirate contest. Luke had a bandanna, hat, and sword, Michelle was dressed as a princess, Heather was in full costume, and Jared had a bandanna and sword. They all got bowling gift certificates for participating.
These four kids were the finalists. I guess Michelle was a finalist because she just looked so cute. She definately didn't look much like a pirate. Maybe she was the princess that was captured by the pirate ship. They had everyone clap to see who won. Whoever got the most applause, won. Heather got the most. It was a fun evening. After Kaitlin's orchestra played, a local community orchestra played some really fun songs. It was a great family activity.
