Spring Break Trip - Day 2
Just outside of Moab. This picture was supposed to be added down below, but I accidently downloaded two pictures of the boys. So, here are the girls.
After a good night's sleep in our "castle" as Michelle called it, we went down to breakfast. Both hotels we stayed at served us breakfast in the morning.
After breakfast, it was off to Moab and Arches National Park.
(Oops. I didn't realize I put the same picture twice.) We stopped at a convenience store just outside of Arches to let everyone pick out a drink. They had these cool teepees that the kids had fun playing in for a minute.
The first place we went to at Arches was the famous Delicate Arch. The trail was about 3 miles round trip, but it was a lot of climbing. The kids did great.
The trail was across a lot of slick rock. There were trail markers along the way to keep us on the right track.
At this point there were stairs carved into the rock.
There were some indian paintings on the rock on the way up.
Jackets were on and off today. It was pretty warm until the breeze kicked up. Then you wanted your jacket.
A fun part about the hike is that you don't see the delicate arch up in the distance. You only see it after you come around this bend that Jared and Heather are standing on.
And then, ta da! There it is. The famous Delicate Arch.
We sat on the rocks nearby Delicate Arch to soak up some sun and eat apples and granola bars.

Dave carried Michelle from time to time. He's such a great dad.
5 cute kids. After the Delicate Arch hike, we drove into Moab to check into the hotel and grab some lunch. The drive to Moab is not very long, but when we pulled into our hotel parking lot, Heather, Luke, and Michelle were all asleep. The hike wore them out. We ate lunch at the Moab Diner.
After a little rest and some lunch, back to Arches we went. We explored around the North and South Window and the Turret Arch.

Jared wore this hat the whole time. He got it from my Grandpa Christiansen. The hat has a fish going through it. We got a lot of comments about that hat. At one time, when Jared was hiking up ahead of us, we passed these two guys who were talking about, "the kid with the fish through his head." We knew they were talking about Jared. Too funny.
The sun was bright. We wore shades a lot.

After the Double Arch and Cove of Caves, we went back to Moab. We grabbed a late dinner at Wendy's, and then back to the hotel for a good night's sleep. Kaitlin ran into one of her friends from school at our hotel, and Jared saw a classmate at Arches. Small world.

Looks like so much fun! I want to go down there someday and hike around.
