Today we took our time in camp in the morning.
Heather and Michelle played in the tent.
We ate another yummy breakfast.
The kids played on the rocks. This is Michelle's mermaid rock.
Luke is showing us his muscles.
While I did the dishes from breakfast, Dave and the kids practiced some skits to perform later that evening.
Heather is very talented when it comes to eating candy. After a relaxing morning, we set off to explore the Lower Loop of Yellowstone. We had already visited Old Faithful, but there were several other things we had passed by.
Michelle did great with all of the walking we did, but sometimes she would hitch a ride.
There were a lot of geysers in this part of Yellowstone.
There is a swimming area in Yellowstone, but it was closed. As we passed a part of the Firehole River, we saw several people swimming. Jared had really wanted to go swimming this whole trip, so we decided to stop. The water was pretty warm, because it was being fed by some of the hot springs. We laughed at this sign, "Fly Fishing Only". I don't think this area was meant to swim in, but everyone had a great time, anyway. Jared, Heather, Luke, and Michelle had all brought a long their swimming suits. So, they changed and got in.
It was a pretty warm day, so after watching for a little bit, Dave and Kaitlin decided to join in the fun in their clothes. I took off my shoes and socks and waded a little, but there were several rocks on the bottom that weren't very nice to your feet. So, most of the time, I sat on the bank with Michelle (who didn't like the water very much) and took pictures. Everyone had a lot of fun.
Probably one of our favorite parts of Yellowstone was the Midway Geyser Basin. It was so pretty with all of the different colors you could see.
After seeing all of the sites of Yellowstone, it was time to search the shops for a souvenir for everyone. We also bought some ice cream. Yummy! Kaitlin bought a t-shirt, Heather chose a snow globe, Luke bought a t-shirt, I bought a t-shirt, and Michelle chose a stuffed animal. It is a brown bear she has named "Bearie". Jared and Dave decided to look in Jackson for their souvenirs.
On our way back to our campsite, there were some elk who decided to just hang out in the road.
